Not every crack means your foundation is failing — but every crack deserves a look. The pattern, location, width, and direction of a crack all tell us something different about what's happening with the structure. We assess cracks accurately and give you a straight answer about whether repair is needed and what it involves.

Types of Cracks We See in St. Louis Homes

Hairline cracks in drywall are common and often cosmetic. Stair-step cracks in brick or block indicate differential movement. Horizontal cracks in stem walls can signal significant lateral pressure. Wide cracks in the slab — especially ones that are also displaced vertically — point to settlement or heave. The type of crack guides the repair approach.

Repair Methods

Depending on what we find, repair options include epoxy injection to seal and bond cracked concrete, carbon fiber straps to stabilize bowing walls, or full foundation pier work to address the underlying movement causing the cracking. Cosmetic crack filling without addressing root causes is not something we recommend — it's a temporary patch on a structural problem.
